Hakha Chin Bible (Myanmar)

Late in 2025, the Hakha Chin translation team printed the books of Psalms and Proverbs in a single volume, which now accompanies their New Testament completed in 2014. Received just before Christmas, this Scripture portion was dedicated in three celebrations, including one in Malaysia. Since then, the trial edition has been greatly used at a women’s group meeting, where they regularly meet to read, memorize, and meditate on passages from these two books. One woman was awarded a prize for memorizing parts of Psalm 19. Their testimony has been shared with other language groups around the world who feel that women cannot memorize Scripture. Please pray for the Hakha Chin’s hunger for God’s Word to continue unabated. Pray also for the translation team, which has to work in the midst of a civil war.

Chairo* Bible (Asia)

The importance of the Read-and-Review Committee (RRC) cannot be emphasized enough. Its role is so critical to the acceptance of the future Chairo Bible that BI has requested it keep the same personnel through the end of the translation work. (There are often personnel changes in the RRC due to the length of the work.) The three translators have finished the first draft of the entire Old Testament and are working with the RRC and BI consultants on thousands of changes in order to make the Scripture text consistent and clear. One of the biggest challenges still facing them is whether to use the New Testament or the Old Testament name for God throughout their new Bible. One name is used to convey “Creator God,” whereas the other name is more commonly accepted and used in the Chairo churches. Pray for wisdom for the team in this and many other crucial decisions.

Dagaare Bible (Ghana)

There are few sadder times in the course of translation work than when a translator passes away before the work is completed. Chief Christopher Zangwelle died of an apparent heart attack on November 27, 2025, which happened to be during the week of the most recent Dagaare Old Testament workshop. Chief Christopher had worked for decades with BMM missionaries Roger and Norene Russ on the Dagaare New Testament (completed in 2015) and continued working with them alongside BI consultant Ron Webber and the Old Testament translation team. He was an industrious translator despite his advanced age and had produced the rough draft of the entire Old Testament from which the team is currently working. Please pray for the remaining team members who will certainly miss their highly esteemed coworker as they prepare to print the book of Exodus in 2026 and continue working through the Old Testament.
