"Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long" (Exodus 20:12a)…. How does the Lord expect us to demonstrate the honor spoken of in this verse? That honor may take various forms. For some, it may mean making life-changing decisions. This is the case for some of Bibles International's (BI) missionaries.
The Lord led Michael and Julie C. to join Baptist Mid-Missions (BMM) in 2005, serving in Cambodia. In 2020, when they were unable to return to Cambodia due to the pandemic, BI's director approached Michael, asking him to consider managing BI's newly formed Scripture Engagement Department. At the same time, Julie was noticing an increasing frailty in her parents' health. Was the Lord using this invitation to redirect the Michael and Julie’s path so that they could honor her parents in Fort Gratiot, Michigan, as the Lord directs in the verse above?
As Michael and Julie prayed for the Lord’s direction, it became clear to them that Michael's gifts would mesh well with the needs at BI. After meeting with BI's administrative team and taking more time to pray, they joined BI. We are thrilled to have Michael in the BI office, and Julie will help on occasion as she is able.
Pray for Michael and Julie as they continue to serve the Lord by caring for her parents. Thank the Lord that they have been sensitive to His leading to honor their parents.
