About

  • Our History

In their church-planting efforts, Baptist Mid-Missions workers saw the need for a Bible in the language of the people to whom they ministered, and often they attempted to do the translating themselves. But adding time for translation to their already demanding responsibilities was frustratingly overwhelming. In 1981, Baptist Mid-Missions felt led by God to establish their own Bible society to come alongside BMM workers and others of like faith and provide the expertise necessary to accurately translate the Bible.

  • Core Values

Bibles International is the Bible Society of Baptist Mid-Missions. Bibles International exists to advance Christ's church through reliable Bible translation; supported by literacy, training, and publishing services; in worldwide partnership with individuals, churches, agencies, and institutions of like purpose and faith.

  • Articles of Faith

We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired of God and are inerrant in the original writing and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life (II Tim. 3:16-17).

  • Translation Philosophy

Bibles International adheres to a "modified literal" approach to Bible translation, resulting in a reliable translation for our language groups. Translations produced by Bibles International shall express the very Word of God as literally as possible in the receptor languages without resorting to dynamic equivalency and without distorting or obscuring the meaning of the original text.
