Core Values

Who We Are

Bibles International Identity: Bibles International is the Bible Society of Baptist Mid-Missions.

Bibles International Purpose: Bibles International exists to advance Christ's church through reliable Bible translation; supported by literacy, training, and publishing services; in worldwide partnership with individuals, churches, agencies, and institutions of like purpose and faith.

Bibles International Translation Policy: Accepting the Bible as the very Word of God, given to us by plenary-verbal inspiration, and totally without error in its original manuscripts, the consultants and translators of Bibles International, a ministry of Baptist Mid-Missions, base their work upon the divinely preserved Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts, and seek the guidance and help of God in achieving a good and accurate translation of His Word.

While many texts in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, and many versions in English and other languages may be consulted, final decisions on textual content are based on the Masoretic text of the Old Testament and the Majority Text of the New Testament. Translations produced by Bibles International express the very Word of God as literally as possible in the receptor languages without distorting, adding to, or obscuring the meaning of the original text.

Bibles International guides all translators working under its auspices to ensure that all the words, every word and all the propositional relationships among the words in the original text are translated in ways the receptor languages allow and which are natural to them. Translation criteria and minimum standards for publishing readiness are published and administered by Bibles International.

Guiding Principles

Biblical Authority: We believe that the Word of God remains the Word of God when it is translated.

Global Outreach: We recognize that God has commanded the church to go into all the world and make disciples; therefore, every people group needs the Bible in a language that speaks to their heart.

Passion for God: We understand that translating Scripture demands zealous devotion and unquestioned obedience to God.

Integrity: We hold ourselves to high personal standards of Christian character and holiness, and employ methodologies that faithfully preserve God's Word.

Centrality of the Local Church: We commit to the necessity of local church partnerships in our ministry so that churches at home and abroad can fulfill the Great Commission with greater effectiveness.

Interdependence: We partner with our brothers and sisters around the world as equals in the family of God, knowing we cannot do the work without each other, and we participate with other organizations in task-oriented partnerships that do not compromise the truth of the gospel.

Faith: We trust God in all aspects of His work.

Prayer: We practice faithful communication with God that links human effort with Divine power.
